Mr. Lamar Trammell Smith, age 68 of Dalton, went to be with the King of Kings – His Lord and Savior on Friday August 14, 2015. A lifetime member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly Dalton, Ga. Lamar was a great man of faith. He learned from an early age about how the Lord heals. Lamar trusted in God til the end for healing. Lamar served his country by being in the U.S. Army. He served his church in alot of ways, a true servant for the Lord. Lamar was an ordained deacon for 24 years. He loved his family and had lots of friends along his way. Lamar was the son of the late John and Ollie Mae Smith of Dalton. Son in law of the late James and Helen Flood of Dalton. The father of Jesse James Smith. Lamar is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Agnes Flood Smith ; sons Nathan Smith of Resaca, Robert Smith of Dalton, daughter Beverly Smith of Dalton, daughter & son in law Nancy and Chris Jorden of Chatsworth ; grandchildren Destiny Smith, Jorden Smith, Emerald Jorden and Jill Jorden ; brothers Marvel Smith of Dalton, Danny Smith of Trion, brother and sister in law Marlin and Diane Smith of Dalton ; sister and brother in law Flora and Anthony Witten of Dalton ; Sister in laws Ollie Marcelino of Dalton, Patti Ford of Chattanooga, brother in law Pat Cook of Dalton, sister and brother in law Annie and Monroe Garland of Cummings. Special friend Dawn Wilhelm of Resaca. Many nieces and nephews. Family would like to thank Hospice Advantage and Dr. David Dennard for all their love and support. Services to celebrate the life of Lamar Smith will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 12 p.m. at The Church of God of the Union Assembly with the Reverend Oley Wilson officiating. Music by Mercy Call and Faith Worship Dance team. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Spring Place Memorial Gardens in Chatsworth with fellow deacons and friends of the church as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Dalton Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, August 17 and from 11 a.m. on Tuesday August 18 until the service hour at The Church of God of the Union Assembly at 2211 S.
