Mr. Larry Joe Plumley, a beloved member of his community, passed away on February 11, 2026, in Rocky Face, Georgia, at the age of 79. He was born on November 18, 1946, in Ellijay, Georgia, where he began a life devoted to family, service, and hard work.
Larry dedicated a significant part of his career to supervising and driving a truck for Mohawk Industries, where he was known for his reliability and commitment. His dedication to his work truly exemplified his strong work ethic.
In addition to his career, Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his service, he was awarded several medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal, with two overseas bars as a Markman. His bravery and service have left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Larry is survived by his cherished family, including his son Joey Chastain and daughter-in-law Dariana Chastain. He also leaves behind his daughter Stacey Plumley Sandoval and son-in-law Martin Sandoval. Larry was a proud brother to Richard Plumley, Rodney Plumley, Truman Plumley, and Harold Plumley, and a loving sister Evelyn Plumley Wilkie. He was a beloved grandfather to Kevin Chastain, and he cherished his great-grandchildren: Allison Chastain, Andrew Chastain, Adrien Chastain, and Javen Chastain.
Larry was predeceased by his wife, Mary Frances Plumley, and his parents, Thurston and Edith Plumley. He also mourned the loss of his brothers, Gary, Troy, and J.L. Plumley, who will now welcome him with open arms.
His life will be honored with a visitation on February 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Both events will be held at Dalton Funeral Home, located at 620 S Glenwood Ave, Dalton, GA 30721.
Larry Joe Plumley’s legacy of love, service, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
