Ms. Laura Lisa Phillips, age 59, of Dalton, GA departed this life on Friday, April 28, 2023. She was born on November 28, 1963. Lisa was the daughter of of the late (Jim) James Robert Ira and Bonnie Faye "Faulknor" Phillips; step-mother, Wilma Roach Phillips; brothers, David Andrew Phillips and Tommy Glen Hester Sr.; brother in love, Gary Howard; step-brother, Roger Roach; sister, Brenda Hester Reiger; nephew, Tommy Glen Hester Jr.; and niece, Karen Elaine Hester. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Howard and Veneta Hester both of Chatsworth, GA; sister-friend/caregiver, Sharon (Raymond) Carrell; nephews, Danny (Jean) Hester of Trion, GA, Eric (Dana) Howard of Dalton, GA, and Brad (Linda) Howard of Clemons, North Carolina; niece, Garronica (Raymond) Bentley of Ringgold, GA; great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends; and step-brother, Harvey Roach. Lisa was born in Dalton, GA. She lost her mother at the age of 4 years old. Her father took her to the home of Oveline Pratt to watch while he worked. There, she and her friend Sharon bonded for a lifetime. Lisa was a fun-loving, free-spirited individual. She loved to sing and often made-up songs. Her most famous one was called, "Water." Life's journey took her down many paths. She encountered a lot of heartache along the way but it did not break her spirit. She was a traveler. She lived in Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, Arizona, and over-seas, in the country of Scotland. She loved gardening but her passion was taking vintage clothing and making something new from something old. She also had a business and was quite successful reselling on Ebay. She was a wonderful country cook. Her specialties were: fried chicken, turnip greens, and spaghetti. Lisa was a caregiver to the elderly and sick. She also helped in a mission while in Scotland working with refugees from all over the world who had fled their homes looking for a safe haven so they could serve Jesus. Before returning to the states, she gave nearly all of her belongings and food to those who had none. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ms. Laura Lisa Phillips will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie T. Pratt officiating. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Dalton Funeral Home.
