Martha Bartlett, age 93, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016. She was born on November 27, 1922. She enjoyed driving across the mountain to her church, Bethesda Baptist Church, and enjoyed the family reunions held at the church. Martha got great joy out of raising her own garden and mowing her lawn. She was an avid cat lover and loved feeding and playing with her cats. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, James William Bartlett; parents, Thomas Andrew Jackson Prince and Sarah Grizzle Prince; her first husband, Felton Jenkins; a grandson, Larry Griggs; brothers, James Prince, John Prince, Joseph Prince, Sidney Prince, and a baby brother; sisters, Alma Smith, Dorothy Williams, Fannie Densmore, and Emma Lee Prince. She is survived by her daughters, Cleva Wolfe of Chatsworth, Sarah and her husband Roger Locke of Dalton, Alicia (who was raised as a daughter) and her husband Scott Mathis of Dalton; grandsons, Patrick Prince, Gary Griggs, TJ Griggs; granddaughters, Brenda Peters, Linda Schlick, Megan Mathis, Regina Mathis; great grandsons, Greg Mathis, Shawn Mathis, James Peters, Chris Schlick, Joshua Peters; great granddaughter, Heather Jordan; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Martha Bartlett will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Bethesda Baptist Church in Nelson, GA with Rev. Jimmy Chester and Rev. Greg Long officiating. Interment will be at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will be serving as pallbearers. The family will be receiving friends for visitation at the funeral home from 4-9 PM on Monday evening and 9 AM – 9 PM on Tuesday. She will lay in state on Wednesday at the church from 1 PM until the hour of service at 2 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to independently owned and operated Dalton Funeral Home, 620 S.
