Martha Leona Peavy, age 89, of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015. She was born on December 10, 1925 in Buchanan, GA, to the late Mary Wynn Stevens and W. Shelly Stevens. Leona had a great love for animals and she enjoyed working at Dalton Animal Care for 40 years. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Peavy; brother, Melvin Stevens; sisters, Aunt Bee Jamison and Maudell Stevens Grimes; great grandson, Shea Bell. She is survived by her sons and daughter in law, Paul and Martha Kay Peavy of Chatsworth and Randall Mitchell Peavy of Dalton; grandchildren, Meleah Bell, Blake Peavy and Kim Rue; great grandchildren, Noah, Riley, Logan, Braden, Jayden and Bobbirae. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Martha Leona Peavy will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Tilton Baptist Church with Rev. James Watts officiating. Interment will follow at Tilton Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5:00 till 9:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. She will lay in state at the church from 1:00 PM till the hour of service on Wednesday.
