Mary Ann Hampton Carroll, March 13,1944 – January 14, 2024. It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Hampton Carroll on January 14, 2024, in Dalton, Ga. Mary Ann was a beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, U.Z. and Frances Cowart; her first husband, J.C. Hampton Jr.; her two brothers, Clyde and Johnny Cowart; her brother in-law, Sam Jones and stepson, Bob Carroll. She is survived by her husband, Walt Carroll; son, Randy (Katy) Hampton; daughters, Karen (Brad) Gardner and Melissa Swafford; step-children, Steve (Robin) Carroll and Lynn (Rhett) Richardson; her brother, James (Dianne) Cowart; sister, Ellen Hall Jones; sister in-law, Sheila Cowart; grandchildren, Stephen (Jessica) Hampton, Whitney (Zack) Hobbs, Richard (JC) Gardner, Kayla (Nick) Price, Kelley Collins, Shay Swafford, Brandon (Kiara) Swafford, Meghan Swafford, William (Koi) Wallace, Katie (Logan) Sharp, Tara Wright, Jeromy Carroll, Tyler (Bethany) Carroll; several great grandchildren and many longtime friends. She cared deeply for others and it was her mission to make sure they knew. She loved to cook for her family and go camping with her family. To know Mary Ann was to love her. She left a sweet impression on everyone who met her. The only thing bigger than her heart was her love for Jesus, her savior. She encouraged and carried many of her grandchildren to church so they could know Jesus. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Dalton Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Valley Brook Church of God with Pastor France Clayton Jr. officiating.
