Mary Frances Powell age 86, of Dalton, GA, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Frances was born in Dalton, GA, on October 30, 1939, the daughter of the late AV Shipman and Beatrice Peek Shipman. She was of the Baptist faith and found joy in singing. Frances was a fireball, fierce‑hearted, and strong willed in the way she lived and also in the way she loved.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Powell; three sons, Jerry Parker, Terry Parker, and Wayne Parker; her siblings, Rellmon “Rooster” Shipman, David Shipman, Floyd Shipman, Annie Jones, and Bonnie Hight; and her beloved dog, Sassy.

She is survived by her son and daughter‑in‑law, Jimmy and Michelle Parker; two sisters, Linda Brown and Margie Mathis; and several grandchildren and great‑grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 1:00 P.M., Chapel of Dalton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour at Dalton Funeral Home.
