Melvin Allen, age 50, of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. He was born on May 28, 1964. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Austin Denney; his parents, Arvil Allen and Reba Jane Weaver Allen. Melvin was survived by his daughters, Crystal Allen of Summerville, Brianne Denney of Cohutta, Shonta Gaddis and her husband Daniel of Dalton, Gina Prather of Dalton; brother David Allen of Ellijay; and 9 grandchildren. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Melvin Allen will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Brother James Lynn officiating. Interment will be at West Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 1:00 till 7:00 PM on Saturday.
