Melvin Haynes, age 64, of Rossville, Georgia passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Cornerstone Hospital in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA. He was born on September 5, 1951. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burl Haynes and Lillie Bell Haynes; and brothers, Elden Haynes, Doug Haynes, Mike Haynes, jimmy Haynes and Danny Haynes. He is survived by his wife, Meleida Haynes; two sons, Melvin D. Haynes and Omar Hammontree; one daughter, Janet Poole; step children, Phillip Burns, Eric Burns and Telina Matthews; grandchildren, Tammy Haynes, Christopher Skidmore, Haley Haynes, Brandon Haynes, Zander Matthews, Brianna Matthews, McKenna Burns, Noah Burns, Randyn Burns and Abi Burns; brothers, Gary Haynes, Dale Haynes, Gordon Haynes, Calvin Williams, Robert Williams; a sister, Lisa Williams; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Melvin Haynes will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 20, 2016 in the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Brother James Whaley officiating. Interment will be at Cohutta Hills Community Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5-9 PM on Sunday evening.
