Olan L. Thomason, age 83, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014. He was born on March16, 1931 in Dalton to the late Manning Hamilton Thomason and Viola Redmond Thomason. Olan was a Veteran and served his country with pride. He also took great pride in his lawn and garden. Along with his parents Olan is also preceded in death by his brothers, Trammell Thomason, Donald Thomason, Grady Thomason, Charles Thomason and Raymond Thomason; sisters, Imogene Stanley and Edna Mae King. Olan is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Julia Green Thomason of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Cary Tetrick of New Braunfels, TX; brothers, Hoyt Thomason of Dalton, and Herschel Thomason of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and Kenneth Rabun of Dalton; sister-in-law, Patricia Whaley Thomason Bartenfield; grandchildren, Holly Marie Hamblin and Daniel Edward Hamblin both of New Braunfels, TX. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Olan L. Thomason will be held at 12:00 PM Monday, September 1, 2014 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 10:00 AM till the hour of service.
