Peggy Ann Hammontree, age 80, of Dalton, GA, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025. Peggy was born in Dalton, GA, on June 14, 1944, the daughter of the late Julian Walston and Tennie Ledford Hawkins. She retired from Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Daycare. Peggy was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and Elvis Presley. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hammontree; sister, Juanita Kinsey; and three brothers, Jack, Roy, and Junior Walston. Survivors include four children, Roxie Page (Kerry), Kay Gassett (Butch), Michael Hammontree (Jeanna), and Mark Hammontree; grandchildren, Kendra Rievley, Andrea Torok, Matthew Hammontree, and Willow Gray; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Lucas Rievley, Braxton Baker, Keeli Lackey, and Harper Gray; two brothers, Bobby and Tommy Walston; two sisters, Connie Hullender and Cathy Green; and a special nephew, Anthony Hullender. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., Chapel of the Dalton Funeral Home with Darey Kittle and Bret Yaeger officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour at Dalton Funeral Home. The following will serve as pallbearers: Mark Arrington, Lance Rogers, Parmelee Ward, Braxton Baker, Jarrett Torok, and Adam Rievley.
