Raymond (RJ) Ferris Smith, JR, age 57, of Plant City, Florida departed this life on October 30, 2018. He was born on February 5, 1961 in Springfield, IL. RJ loved music. He played the guitar for many years and was the lead singer in different bands throughout his life, the latest one was South Star. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Ferris Smith, SR; mother, Glenda Lou Smith; and sister, Pamela Jeanette Holmes. He is survived by his fiancé, Deanna Rigsby; two daughters, Keisha Smitha and Constance Smith Torres; brothers, James L. Smith and Phillip V. Smith; sister, Kristy Moore; stepmother, Janet DeFrates Smith; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A memorial service to honor the life of Raymond (RJ) Ferris Smith, JR will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at New Life Baptist Church (2620 Old Grade Rd. Dalton, GA).
