Roger Allen Bowling, age 72, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021. He was born on October 22, 1948 in Scott County, TN. Roger was known for coaching and assisting at the Whitfield County Recreation Department. He was an Amateur Boxer and an avid Boston Celtics fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Obie and Monie Bowling; and sister, Brenda Daugherty. He is survived by his wife, Lefa Janie Fitzgerald Bowling of Dalton; sons, Roger Arnold Bowling of Dalton, Rocky Bowling of Huntsville, TN; daughter, Kristy Bowling of Dalton; brothers and sister-in-law, Jimmy Ray and Joyce Bowling of Winfield, TN, Gary Bowling of San Antonio, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Tom Mason of Oneida, TN; sister-in-law, Teresa Smith of Oneida, TN, Ella Sue Black of Tunnel Hill, GA; brothers-in-law, James Fitzgerald of Huntsville, TN, David Daugherty of Norma, TN, Bill Fitzgerald of Tunnel Hill, GA; grandchildren, Jadrien Buttram, McKayla Aizllynn Ridley; special friends, Dave and Verna Feist, Angie, David, Ashley and Dylan Plumley, and Deidra Browning; and several other nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Roger Allen Bowling will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Bull Creek United Baptist Church with Bro. Tony E. Lowe and Carlie Duncan officiating. Interment will be at Bull Creek United Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5-8 PM Tuesday evening at Dalton Funeral Home. The family will also have visitation at the church from 12-3 PM prior to the funeral service. Davey Daugherty, Dion Daugherty, Roger James Fitzgerald, Roger Arnold Bowling, Jadrien Buttram and Rocky Bowling will be serving as pallbearers.
