Ronnie enjoyed a fulfilling career as a welder for Tufco before his health began to decline. His craftsmanship, dedication, and strong work ethic were commendable, and he was respected by his peers. In addition to his professional life, Ronnie had a vibrant personal life filled with his passions. He loved riding motorcycles and had a special fondness for his Chevrolet truck, often sharing joyous moments and adventures with his family.
The foundation of Ronnie’s personality was deeply intertwined with his love for his family. He cared deeply about those around him, always prioritizing their happiness and well-being. His unconditional support and affection for his wife, Cathy Hughes, and their children — sons Brady Hughes, Jacob Phillips, and Josh Phillips; daughters Angela Hughes and Misty Phillips — were evident in every interaction. His devotion extended to his siblings, including brother James Hughes and sisters Tammy Jones, Darlene Grizzell, Nancy Brewer, Patty Ash, alongside special family member James "Bigon" Hughes. He proudly embraced his role as a grandfather to Kson Newby, Bryson Newby, Jezzlyn Phillips, Bently Phillips, and was a delighted great-grandfather to Adeline Newby.
Ronnie is also remembered by many beloved nieces and nephews who carry forward the values he instilled in them. His spirit will forever echo in the hearts of his family and friends who celebrate his life and the precious moments shared.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John William Hughes, and Inez Willie Turner Hughes, brothers John Hughes, Will Hughes, Raymond Hughes, and Robbie Hughes; as well as sisters Mary Holcomb, Viola Tramble, Kathy Holmes, Joan Hughes, Betty Sue Hughes, Villa May Waters, and Dorothy Hughes. Each of these family members played a unique role in Ronnie's life, and their memory will continue to be cherished by those left behind.
