Roscoe "Dido" Hoyt Whaley, JR, age 80, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015. He was born on October 1, 1934 in Chatsworth. Dido owned Whaley Grocery Store in Dalton for 50 years. He enjoyed volunteering at Valley Point School. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Ruby Whaley; son, Maverick Eugene Whaley; father, Roscoe Whaley, SR; mother, Ida Wallace Johnson; brother, James Whaley; and a granddaughter, Vanessa Whaley. He is survived by his son, James "Jimmy" Whaley and his wife Brenda of Dalton; brother, Jerry Johnson and his wife Deanne of Varnell; grandchildren, Wendy and Kevin Curtis, Korie Whaley, Tressie and Scott Mays, Melissa Whaley-Ramos and Eligio; great grandchildren, Maverick Curtis, Kolby Curtis, Kyle Whaley, Jessica Torres, Erik Whaley, Nathaniel Mays, Megan Mays, Vive Whaley, Ellianna Ramos, Trish Patterson, Denise Patterson, Charlie Patterson, great great grandchild, Christian Rodriguez, Tyler Whaley, and Mary Jane Heavenly Smith. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Roscoe "Dido" Hoyt Whaley will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at South Dalton Baptist Church with Pastor Robbie Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5:00 – 9:00 PM on Monday evening at Dalton Funeral Home.
