Ruby Mahallie Elrod, age 97, of Dalton,Georgia passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020 with her two loving daughters Belinda and Angie, Belinda's husband JW, and her special granddaughter Tiffany Ball by her side. She was born in Fannin County, Georgia on December 12, 1922. She grew up on a farm in McKaysville. She loved being outside, working the fields with her daddy, and canning vegetables from their bountiful harvests. She later lived in Murray Country, where she cared for her eight children until moving to Dalton in 1978. She will be missed by her surviving children and their spouses: Leroy Elrod, Deloris Holland, Belinda Smith (JW, who was also a special son to Ruby), Walker Elrod (Kay), Angela Elrod, and Cynthia Ellison (Butch). Also surviving is her daughter-in-law (Patricia), her 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. We are waiting for the days when the Lord calls each one of us home to be with her! Our beautiful and wonderful Momma is in a heavenly paradise now with her sons, Jerry L. Elrod and Carl G. Elrod; her daughters-in-law Yvonna (Leroy) and Debbie (Carl); her son-in-law, Dewey (Deloris); her parents, Luther Sosebee and Ola (Pack) Sosebee; her brothers, Ernest, Grady, Cecil, Hubert, Homer Cee, Audlee and Arvil; her sisters, Lucy and Pearl; and her husband, Bennie L. Elrod. The family would like to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice, especially Denise and Kim, for the care they provided to Ruby at the end of her long life. A graveside service officiated by Rocky Elrod (grandson) will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 3, 2020 at West Hill Cemetery. Viewing at the gravesite will begin at 10:30 AM.
