Ruby N. Whaley, age 74, of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at her home. She was born on October 3, 1939 in Sugar Valley, Georgia to Chester and Maude Talley. Ruby and her husband Hoyt owned Whaley Grocery Store in Dalton for 50 years. Ruby is preceded in death by her father, Chester Talley; sons, Maverick Whaley and ; great grandchild, Vanessa Whaley. Ruby is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Hoyt "Dido" Whaley of Dalton; step son and step daughter-in-law, James and Brenda Whaley of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Marie Talley of Dalton, Chester and Dorlis Talley of Tunnel Hill, Vernon and Martha Talley of Calhoun, Kenneth and Sandie Talley of Calhoun; sisters and brothers-in-law, Geneva and Don Klotz of Resaca, Gwen and Charles Harris of Plainville;  grandchildren, Wendy and Kevin Curtis, Korie Whaley, Tressie and Scott Mays, Melissa Whaley-Ramos and Eligio; great grandchildren, Maverick Curtis, Kolby Curtis, Kyle Whaley, Jessica Torres, Erik Whaley, Nathaniel Mays, Megan Mays, Vive Whaley, Ellianna Ramos, Trish Patterson, Denise Patterson, Charlie Patterson; great great grandchild, Christian Rodriguez. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ruby N. Whaley will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at South Dalton Baptist Church with Pastor Robbie Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 6:00 – 9:00 PM on Thursday evening through Friday evening.
