Thomas Edward Arrington, a beloved figure whose life was a true testament to dedication and love, passed away on March 5, 2026, at Hamilton Medical Center. Born on November 20, 1929, in Borden Springs, Alabama, he lived a remarkable life enriched by his unwavering commitment to his family and the passions that brought him joy.
Tom dedicated much of his career to being a truck driver, a profession that showcased his hard‑working nature and allowed him to spend countless hours on the open road. Beyond his work, he was a great man who took immense pride in caring for his family. His love for them shined brightly through his actions and words, leaving a lasting mark on their lives.
A true outdoorsman, Tom found peace and happiness in the simple beauty of nature. He was an avid fisherman who cherished quiet moments by the water, often sharing those times with loved ones and creating memories that will be retold for generations. He also enjoyed browsing flea markets, always on the lookout for a good find or a project to bring back to life. Tom had a natural talent for working on lawn mowers, weedeaters, and anything mechanical, finding satisfaction in fixing things with his own hands.
Tom leaves behind his two sons, William Arrington and David Arrington, who carry forward the values he instilled in them. His legacy continues through his 16 grandchildren, 37 great‑grandchildren, and many great‑great‑grandchildren who also survive. Each of them carries a piece of Tom’s spirit, ensuring that his warmth and kindness will endure within the family for years to come.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Ruby Arrington, who was the heart of his world; his sons Larry Arrington and Donnie Arrington; daughters Angela Arrington and Helen Arrington; granddaughters Brittany Arrington, Jamie Parker, and Vanessa Arrington; and great‑grandsons Brandon Webb, and Caleb Smith. Tom was deeply influenced by his parents, Charles and Rose Arrington, and his loving grandparents, James and Sena Arrington. He cherished the bond he shared with his siblings, Geneva Arrington Smith, Mavis Arrington Smith, and brothers William, James, Charles, Parker, Nathan, and Clifford Arrington, all of whom have now greeted him in eternal rest.
Visitation will be held on March 8, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Dalton Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Services will be held at 620 S. Glenwood Ave., Dalton, GA 30721.
Tom’s life was defined by love, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of family and nature. His impact on those who knew him will never be forgotten, and he leaves behind a legacy of warmth that will continue to resonate in the hearts of many.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the independently owned and operated Dalton Funeral Home, 620 S. Glenwood Ave., Dalton, GA 30721; 706‑529‑5371.
