Tim Paul Lawson, a beloved husband, father, devoted family member, and friend to many, passed away on June 18, 2026, at Hamilton Medical Center. Born on July 6, 1959, in Dayton, Tennessee, Tim lived a life marked by deep affection for his loved ones, a generous spirit, and a genuine talent for making the people around him laugh.
Those who knew Tim remember him as someone whose hands were rarely idle. He could spend hours in the garage tinkering with a car or mower finding joy in the mechanics of it all. When he wasn't under the hood of something, he was behind the mower — because Tim didn't just mow a yard, he perfected it. The lines had to be straight, the edges clean, and if you walked across it before he was done admiring it, well, you heard about it. He also found real peace with a fishing rod in his hand and watched with obvious pride as his sons took the field, cheering them on with the kind of enthusiasm only a dad can muster.
Tim's lightheartedness was one of his most enduring gifts. He had a teasing streak a mile wide, and took great pleasure in getting a rise out of the people he loved most — always with that mischievous grin that made it impossible to stay annoyed at him for long. His jokes had a way of sneaking up on you, and his laughter had a way of filling a room. At the core of it all, though, Tim was a steady, loving presence — a pillar of support for his entire family who found real fulfillment in helping others, in ways both big and small.
Tim is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Lawson, who shared countless years of partnership, unconditional love, and no small amount of good-natured eye-rolling with him. His legacy is carried forward by his cherished sons: TJ (Harmony) Lawson, Justin (Dr. Kyle Floyd) Lawson, and daughter Haley Crump; grandsons Trey Lawson and Logan Lawson; siblings Shirley (Raymond) Farmer, Mary (Larry) Harris, Billy Lawson, Jackie Lawson and Charles (Cathy) Lawson; mother-in-law Mildred Rittenhouse; and sisters-in-law Kathy Lawson and Devita Lawson. Their lives are richer — and a little funnier — for having known his love and humor.
He is reunited in peace with those who passed before him: his parents, Louise Brown Lawson and Dennis Lawson; siblings Johnny, Ray, Sam, and Tommy Lawson; his beloved daughter, Ashley Diane Lawson; and his father-in-law, Gordon Green. Their memories live on in the stories and hearts of those left behind.
Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects at a visitation on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dalton Funeral Home, located at 620 S. Glenwood Ave, Dalton, GA 30721. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 3:00 PM at McFarland Hill Baptist Church, 307 Brickyard Rd, Dalton, GA 30721.
Tim Paul Lawson will be remembered for his enduring kindness, his perfectly mowed lawn, his quick wit, and his unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, laughter, and warmth that will live on in every life he touched.
