Van Lance, Jr., age 72, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia passed away Monday, October 30, 2017. He was born on March 5, 1945. He was preceded in death by his parents, Van and Ethel Lance; brothers, Robert, Benny and Billy Lance; sisters, Brenda Lance, Sue Nuckolls and Helen Lance. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Dilbeck Lance; son and daughter in law, Anthony and Cynthia Lance; daughter, Vanessa Lance Meachen; special grandson, Reid Thurmond; granddaughters, Marissa Durham, Brittany Lance and Alyssa Meachen; brother in law, J.B. Nuckolls; special nephew, Hoyt Lance; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Van Lance, Jr. will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald Guffey and Bro. Robert Beavers officiating. Interment will be at Smith Chapel Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 4-9 PM on Tuesday evening. Hoyt Lance, Noah Lance, Terry Dilbeck, Eddie Lance, Ryan Langham and J.R. Thurmond will be serving as pallbearers.
