On the morning of July 29, Wanda Houston, 71, of Dalton, passed quietly from this world surrounded by her children. She was born on January 7, 1943 to the late J.H. Bowman, and Doris Chitwood Bowman, who resides at Regency Park. A favorite hobby of Wanda's was playing Pogo games online, where she was an administrator of a Canasta league. Her love of Country Music led her to a meeting with a young Merle Haggard, that turned into a special 50 year friendship. Her continued involvement with Country Music has built her a group of friends that stretches around the globe. She enjoyed communicating with these friends by telephone and online. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Along with her mother she is also survived by her son, Dale Houston of Nashville, TN; daughters and sons in law, Celece and Lee Rowe of Chatsworth, Tonya and Bryan Imler of Duncansville, PA, and Misty DeLay of Dalton; brother, Joel Bowman of Dalton; grandchildren, Robby Houston of Dalton, Makenzie Rowe of Chatsworth, Bryce and Addyson Imler of Duncansville, PA, Tristan and Lucas DeLay of Dalton. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Wanda Lynn Bowman Houston will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Swamp Creek Baptist Church with Brother Richard Houston officiating. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 6:00 till 9:00 PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
