Obituary

Wilbur Doyle King, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at his residence. Born on November 26, 1943, in Bradley County, Tennessee, Wilbur lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family and community.

Wilbur’s commitment to his country was exemplified through his service in the United States Army during the Berlin Conflict. Following his military service, he devoted many years as a security guard for Beau and Coronet Carpet, a role in which he was known for his reliability and protective presence.

Beyond his professional achievements, Wilbur was a man of varied interests and passions. He loved fishing and found joy in riding motorcycles, reflecting a zest for life and the outdoors. Known for his warm and loving nature, he embraced his roles within the family wholeheartedly, earning deep respect and affection from all who knew him.

Wilbur leaves behind his beloved wife, Betty Frances King; his sons, Donald (Kimberly) Thomason, Doyle (Jamie) King, Wayne (Leslie) King, and Chris (Lisa) King; his daughters, Wilma (Dewayne) Asher, Vickie Gray, and Stephanie (Christopher) Jones; and Laura Allmon, a special daughter. He is also survived by his brothers, G.L. (Gail) King and Cleneare (Dorthy) King. Wilbur’s family continues to be enriched by the legacy of his spirit and devotion.

He is preceded in death by his son, Wilbur Dale King and daughter, Bobbie Thomason, brothers, Lewis (Wylma) King, whose memories remain lovingly cherished by the family.

The community is invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Dalton Funeral Home, located at 620 S Glenwood Avenue, Dalton, Georgia, on June 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at the same location on June 10, 2026, beginning at 3:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, Tennessee, on June 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers serving are as follows: Donald Thomason, Dewayne Asher, DJ Asher, Davo Weaver, Chris Jones, Heather Romans, and Rusty Romans. Honorary pallbearers are David Hall, and Jerry Bolton.

Wilbur Doyle King’s life was a testament to love, duty, and joy, values that continue to inspire and guide those fortunate to have known him. His memory will forever remain a beacon of strength and kindness for his family and community.
