Mr. William "Bill" Groves, age 89, of Dalton, Georgia passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Quinton Memorial Healthcare Center. He was born on March 18, 1934. He was known for his kind personality and loved spending time with family. He enjoyed Braves baseball, fishing, golfing, and cruising. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Iris "Ann" Groves; father and mother, Chester and Dovie Mae Groves; brother, Kenneth Groves; sisters, Mary Burgess and Rachel Hubbs; and one grandson, Destin Groves. He is survived by his one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Kris Groves of Dalton, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Greg Carter of Dalton, GA and Rhonda and Walter Howell of Henagar, AL; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Kathleen Groves of Rocky Face, GA; sister-in-law, Shirley Groves of Varnell, GA; grandchildren, Megan Miller of Dalton, GA, Courtney Baker of Rocky Face, GA, Dylan Groves of Dalton, GA, Walter Howell of Ringgold, GA, William Howell of Soddy Daisy, TN, and Sarah York of Dalton, GA; great grandchildren, Cole and Reid Miller of Dalton, GA, Milly Long of Rocky Face, GA, Brayden Groves of Dalton, GA, Gunnar and Paxton Howell of Ringgold, GA, Georgia and Sadie Howell of Soddy Daisy, TN, and Taylor and Brody York of Dalton, GA; and several other nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. William "Bill" Groves will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Cronan officiating. Interment will be at West Hill Cemetery with military honors at graveside. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Dalton Funeral Home.
