Willis Shelton, age 88, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Friday, October 2, 2020. He was born on May 2, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Vina Lou Shelton; his first wife and mother of his children, Gladys Petty Shelton; son, Donald Shelton; daughters, Charlotte Shelton, Virginia Shelton, Diane Shelton, Gail Shelton Bearden; grandson, Justin Shelton; brothers, Harold Shelton, TL Shelton; sisters, Thelma Akins; son in law, Lloyd Hilliard. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Jackson Shelton of Dalton; sons and daughters in law, Terry and Yvonne Shelton, David and Kathy Shelton, Jimmy and Annette Shelton all of Dalton; daughter, Jo Ann Shelton Hilliard of Dalton; step daughters and son in law, Sherri and Ray Keener of Chatsworth, Ranae Allen of Chatsworth; brothers, Estell Shelton of Dalton, Harbin Shelton of Tennessee; sisters and brother in law, Jean Rolen, Julia Bradford of Dalton, Jo Ann and Buddy Parker of Dalton, Mickey Jetter of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Heather Allen; special friends; Frank and Linda Abernathy of Alabama, and Paul Sneed of Sugar Valley. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Willis Shelton will be held at 4:00 PM Monday, October 5, 2020 at Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church with Bro. Brandon Chastain and Pastor Ronald Guffey officiating. Interment will be at West Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for visitation on Sunday evening from 4-8 PM at the church and on Monday from 12:00 PM until the hour of service.
