Wilma Odell Waters age 78 of Dalton, passed away peacefully on Sunday Morning, July 21, 2013 at Regency Park in Dalton. Born on May 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Larkin and Nora Foster Mathis. She was married for 25 years to her late husband, James Waters. Wilma attended and was a lifetime member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her kindred spirit and her devotion as a Christian, a mother, a grandmother and friend to all. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Lisa Waters of Chatsworth and James and Tammy Waters of Dalton; sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara and Cofford Stancill of Dalton, and Ophia Byers (late husband Cecil Byers) of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Jean Mathis and Helen Mathis; grandchildren, Daniel Waters, Steven Waters, Jason Waters and Joshua Waters She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, Wade Mathis, Wayne Mathis and Ray Mathis; a sister, Thelma Howard Wimpey; brothers-in-law, Cecil Byers and John Howard; a sister-in-law, Ann Leigh Mathis. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ms. Wilma Waters will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Harmony Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Lamar Beason, Rev. Johnny Beason and Rev. Bit Parrish officiating. Interment will follow the service at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 until 9:00PM.
